The Chamberlain Memorial Garden, terraced on a slope to the west of our church building is dedicated to the memory of Pat Chamberlain, a long time, beloved member of our congregation. After Pat’s death in Florida, her husband, Bob, donated funds to build this garden in her honor.
The garden is cared for by members of the Congregation during seasonal work parties.
The endowment fund takes care of major structural requirements such as the new steps that were installed in 2003, and the removal of some very large overhanging limbs.
Any member or friend of the church may be memorialized by giving a set donation to the Garden Commission. If one chooses, ashes may be scattered or buried in one of the terraced boxes and the name of the deceased is engraved on a plaque which hangs inside the church sanctuary.
Enjoy a solitary meditative moment in the Garden, or share a noon day bag lunch with a friend on a summer afternoon. There are benches in the shade, an occasional turkey in the underbrush and, if you take the time to listen, conversations taking place in the canopy of the trees.
Spend some time there and be refreshed.
